River Run 42 at Kibler Valley -- "Adventure Around Every Bend" -- is scheduled for Saturday, July 19th. About 20 different competition categories will be involved this year, including the usual canoe and kayak races. Participants and their watercraft are shuttled from the staging area to the hydro plant at the end of Kibler Valley Road for their various races involving timed runs downstream.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. on July 19, with the racing to commence at noon that Saturday.
Cost and other details will be posted on a website for the event.
The Kibler Valley River Run is not just for active participants but spectators who position themselves on bridges and at other strategic locations to watch those floating downriver.
Proceeds from the event aid various charitable and other community projects. River Run 42 is sponsored by the Red Bank Ruritan Club and Patrick County Tourism.
