Key recent events are: • Aerial Machine and Tool at Vesta, VA announced an expansion of their facilities and addition of over 70 new jobs. They are now owned by Aqua Lung America, Inc. • Results of Stuart announced the addition of 40 new jobs, bringing the total to 240 workers, since opening in 2006. • Surrey Bank and Trust of Mt. Airy, NC is building a new branch bank in Stuart, VA. Building construction is now underway on the 4-lane Jeb Stuart Highway. • Primland, of Meadows of Dan, VA now has under construction an exquisite lodge and restaurant, plus other new facilities and infrastructure upgrades. This will bring resort class visitors to our county and will greatly boost our economy with new jobs and added tourist attractions. • Wendy’s will build a new fast food restaurant in Stuart, near the Wal-Mart center employing 40 people. We are very grateful for Region 17, West Piedmont Work Force Investment Board, with offices in Martinsville, VA, who is reaching out to businesses to further assist them in finding employees that better match their needs and upgrading the skills of prospective employees. The new Executive Director is Kim Adkins, formerly President of the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce.
