Tom Bishop Speaks out on the building economy in Patrick County, VA.
Tom Bishop, Executive Director of the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce, has spoken out recently about the “silent economy of new construction in Patrick County.
“For the last two years, there have been approximately 100 new homes built in Patrick County per year. Usually these homes are built by people who come here from outside our County who are over 55 years old. They add monies to our real estate tax base, contribute to our retail economy, and require little in services from our County government. They join our churches, civic clubs and volunteer agencies, and contribute to these organizations.
This is a very positive facet to our economy, that many times is not recognized for their importance. We appreciate those who show confidence in our County and invest in it which helps continue the growth of the economy.
