Wayne Kirkpatrick Receives Award-Environmental Stewardship

Wayne Kirkpatrick of the Dan River Basin Association received an Environmental Stewardship Award on Tuesday in Richmond, VA. Wayne operates a farm in Stuart, VA.

Dr. David C. Jones of Henry County and Wayne Kirkpatrick of Patrick County, a Dan River Basin Association member, accepted Virginia Environmental Stewardship Awards at a luncheon Tuesday in Richmond.
Dr. Jones, a local orthodontist, received his award in the outstanding individual category for his development and sponsorship of the Trout in the Classroom Program in Henry and Patrick counties.
Kirkpatrick received the award in the communications category for his contributions to water quality monitoring of streams in Southwest Virginia and his development of a detailed training session for local students and teachers in both Patrick and Henry counties.
Presenting the awards were Preston Bryant, state Secretary of Natural Resources, and Mike Ward, executive director, Virginia Petroleum Council, who hosted the event.
