"Strings in the Corn," 2013 Maze Design by Sue Shelor at Meadow Meadow Farm & Crafts

Corn Acoustic!" Corn Maze Opens Labor Day Weekend at Mountain Meadow Farm Mountain Meadow Farm and Craft Market offered a one day preview of their 2013 corn maze design at the Meadows of Dan Folk Fair on August 17. This year's design features a collection of intertwining instruments including a harp, baroque guitar, bow, fiddle, and electric guitar to create a challenging and exciting corn maze adventure. The journey begins near the farm animal exhibit and winds through the seven foot tall stalks of corn leading maze seekers out to Sue's Pick Your Own Fun Pumpkin Patch. The corn maze fun begins Labor Day Weekend during the Chinquapin Festival and will continue on weekends, 10 AM to 5 PM during the rest of September and through October, weather permitting.

This year will be the farm's fourth year working with the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation as one of the locations of the Kids in Parks Track Trail. Information found throughout the corn maze will teach children about music, musical instruments and their heritage. For more information on the Kids in Parks Track Trail visit www.KidsinParks.com. As part of opening the corn maze season, the Chinquapin Festival, held on August 31 and September 1 and 2, offers craft vendors, free balloons, spinning demonstrations at Greenberry House, farm animals, hay bale romp and local music. Music on Saturday from 2 PM to 4 PM by Tina, Herbert and Cathrine Conner. Sunday's music by The Compton's and Friends from 2 PM to 4 PM. Schedule of events subject to change without notice.. Hours for the event are 10 AM to 5 PM all three days.Free parking and it is held rain or shine. Limited seating is available under the big tent and the promoter recommends bringing lawn chairs. Both the festival and the corn maze are located at Mountain Meadow Farm, 84 Concord Road, Meadows of Dan, Virginia. The “Corn Acoustics!” Corn Maze will be open on weekends from 10 AM to 5 PM from September through October. Mid week visits to the maze are by appointment.
