Cross Creek Closing doors in Mt. Airy, NC, Aug. 31

One of Surry County, NC largest employers and one of the oldest textile firms, Cross Creek Apparel will be closed by fall, putting about 300 employees out of work.
"This decision is in no way a reflection on the efforts of our dedicated employees," said Senior Vice President Tony Greson in a printed statement.
The company said action was necessary due to the continued pressure of imported textile and apparel products from China and the Far East.
