Roanoke, VA: FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway is hosting a Viewshed Tree Planting event this Saturday, March 19th, 2011, at 10:00am at milepost 113.3 on the Blue Ridge Parkway

The tree planting is part of FRIENDS' Saving Parkway Views program. Due to rapid development and growth in the Roanoke Valley, it has become more important than ever to protect the Parkway viewsheds, or "the natural environment that is visible from one or more viewing points." FRIENDS hosts a tree planting annually in order to restore the dramatic environmental views of the Parkway that are often obstructed due to new construction - building back the ecological buffer benefits the communities and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
