Homestead Offers Business Grammar Workshop-Critz

CRITZ, VA (January 12, 2011) — A survey of manufacturers in the United States revealed that 51% of employers report reading, writing and communication skills to be seriously deficient in the workplace

IMPROVE BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS WITH BUSINESS GRAMMAR WORKSHOP CRITZ, VA (January 12, 2011) — A survey of manufacturers in the United States revealed that 51% of employers report reading, writing and communication skills to be seriously deficient in the workplace. A 2004 study done by the College Board reports that bad writing costs corporate America around $3.1 billion per year. “Business Grammar: Improving Your Daily Business Communication,� taught by Lisa Martin at the Reynolds Homestead will review some of the most common mistakes made in business writing and help participants improve their own writing skills. The course begins on Tuesday, January 25 and continues on Thursday, January 27 and Tuesday, February 1. In the event of inclement weather on one of those nights, there is a make-up date scheduled for Thursday, February 3. Class is from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and students are welcome to bring their dinners with them. “The changing nature of communications in the workplace with the addition of the internet and social media has really affected the way we interact with each other,� says instructor Lisa Martin. “Many rules have changed—and we need to be aware of them.� In addition to addressing the changing nature of communication, the course will review some of the most common mistakes made in business communications—including grammar and writing errors. “This course is a great refresher for anyone looking to improve business communication skills,� according to Martin. The cost for the course is $45, reduced to $40 if two or more from the same business are registered. All materials for the class will be supplied.
