Patrick County authorities are helping search for an elderly man last seen near the Blue Ridge Parkway in Carroll County.
Roy Thomas Funderburke, 82, of Urbanna, Va., was last seen this morning in his gray 2009 Pontiac Torrent, a type of SUV, according to Patrick County Sheriff’s Office records. The vehicle tag is Virginia KAE 5939.
Patrick Sheriff Dan Smith said Funderburke is believed to be in the early stages of Alzheimer’s. He also is a diabetic, records showed.
“He may have become disoriented in the fog,� Smith said, and added Patrick County authorities are working with those in Carroll and Floyd counties on the search.
Funderburke, who has white hair and green eyes, is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs about 154 pounds.
