Brush Fire in Rural Patrick County, near Handy Mt. and Peter's Creek

A brush fire raged in Patrick County on April 7, 2010 on the side of a mountain, referred to as Handy Mountain. 45-50 firefighters were on the scene up until 10:00pm according to WHEO 1270 AM news report.
The fire was considered under control on the night of April 7, but flared up again in morning of April 8. Inmates from a Henry County Correctional Unit assisted in the firefighting. The fire covered about 20 acres.
