As reported by AP Wire service an the Martinsville Bulletin, Gov. Elect Bob McDonnell and Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling will speak at the Pre-Legislative Conference in Martinsville, VA on Dec. 16-2009
RICHMOND — Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell appointed Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling his administration’s new jobs czar Thursday and announced that both plan to visit Martinsville next week.
That will be part of a campaign promise McDonnell made that either he or Bolling will visit Southside every 30 days until the economy improves.
Del. Danny Marshall, R-Danville, said McDonnell and Bolling will visit the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce’s pre-legislative luncheon Wednesday at the Gallery.
Chamber President Amanda Witt said both are scheduled to speak, but she did not have their topics on Thursday.
As he appointed Bolling jobs czar, McDonnell made the post a position in his cabinet.
The appointment makes good on a pledge McDonnell made during his campaign to broaden the minimal constitutional duties of the lieutenant governor into “chief jobs creation officer,� though not his pay of $36,321 a year.
