PH Community College Offers Middle College Program

Patrick Henry Community College announces the establishment of a Middle College, the seventh such program in the Virginia Community College System.
The Middle College will be located on the main campus, with Christy Yaple returning to PHCC as the Director. Christy formerly worked for PHCC, and most recently served as Director of Tech Prep and Career Placement at Danville Community College. We are pleased to have Christy back with us.
Middle College allows students, ages 18-24 and without a high school degree, to increase their income and employability by simultaneously pursuing a GED, a community college education, and a workforce certification in a college environment.
Previously, only six Middle College programs existed in the VCCS: Danville, J. Sargeant Reynolds, Germanna, New River, Rappahannock, and Southside.
The following statistics demonstrate the success of the program:
* Over 70% of active students have received a GED
* Over 50% of GED completers are enrolled in a post-secondary education program
* Nearly 60% of the GED completers earned a Career Readiness Certificate
