PCMA – June 27, 2009 – Stuart, VA
It’s summertime and the music plays on, at Stuart Rotary Field, as PCMA presents it’s monthly Jamboree of bluegrass and gospel music. The Patrick County Music Association is highlighting local bands, all within an hour’s drive and featuring the Highlanders on Saturday, June 27th in Stuart, VA.
Southwest Virginia is known for its bluegrass, gospel, and the best pickers around including the Highlanders. Preserving tradition, by teaching the younger generations, is one of the most important elements of the bluegrass musical industry. It’s no different with the Highlanders, who have younger thru older members performing in the band. Sadly the Highlanders recently lost Johnny Jackson, their fiddle player. The band welcomes local resident and award winning, Buddy Pendleton to their group for this month Jamboree.
This months PCMA Jamboree also includes Herbert and Tina Conner, Highway 61, Southern Prophets, Chords of Faith, and Crossview. Doors open at 3:30 PM music starts at 4:30 PM. For more information call (276) 694-4232 or visit www.patrickcountymusic.com. Food is available. Bring your family, friends and chairs to PCMA’s free Jamboree on Saturday, June 27th at Stuart Rotary Field, just off Hwy. 58 on Woodlawn drive, near the hospital. PHOTO ATTACHED
