Information for the Friends of Rodger Williams Today is May 2, 2009 As most of our community knows, on March 10, 2009 Rodger Williams was involved in a near fatal farm accident. Since that date, Rodger has been in Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem. For the first 40 days, Rodger was in the ICU and his prognosis was not good. As a matter of fact, at least twice Rodger was inside the Pearly Gates. Through the Grace of God we have him back. Today, Rodger is still a patient at Baptist Hospital. His progress has been nothing short of remarkable and he has moved to a standard room (if there is anything standard to being in a hospital). It has been 52 days since the accident. Although his progress is extraordinary and truly a gift from God, he will remain a patient for many more long weeks. On June 7, 2009 our community will come together and support and uplift Rodger and his family as we give thanks to our Benevolent God for His grace and mercy. We will hold a Steak Supper at Rotary Field on that Sunday from 12:30 – 5:30 pm to attempt to offset the mounting bills and daunting fees that face this family. A donation of $20.00 will provide you with a meal that includes a steak, potato, salad and drink. Children under 12 are free, and we will provide hot dogs and drinks for them to eat. Several of our local entertainers including The Southern Prophets, One Accord, The Joyful Noise, Spirit Seekers, Jason Harris and Friends, and others, have graciously given of their time to perform and make this event memorable for all involved. Organizations and Corporations in the community have quickly and graciously begun to volunteer their services and support to this event. The amazing level of love and support in this county is never ending. With your help and support we will join as a community – come together as a true family of believers – and give God all of the glory for the miracle of Rodger’s recovery. It will be a long road; a difficult path; and a significant challenge…. But it is a blessing that only God could have given us. Please join us and support our Rodger as we take a few short minutes out of our routine lives and give thanks to God. Advance ticket sales will help us insure we have enough steaks, and are available at Stuart Baptist Church, Jim Litten Real Estate, and other locations that will be announced soon. The hardest part of this event is getting the information out to our friends. Please pass this information to all of your friends. Word of mouth will insure success. And remember to bring your lawn chair so that you can stay and enjoy the music!! Questions? Contact Stuart Baptist Church at 694-3440, or one of the three co-organizers at their home numbers: Alex Wilkins at 694-6617, Susan Edwards at 694-5405, or Denise Stirewalt at 694-3325. Each of these three folks also have tickets available. God blesses us all, each and every day. We just need to remember to thank Him.
