Army 1st Lt. Leevi Khole Barnard, age 28 of Ararat, VA was killed in Iraq of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked by enemy forces using explosives.
Lt. Barnard was a graduate of Patrick County High School in 2007 and a graduate UNC Charlotte with a bachelors degree in political science and received his commission as an officer through the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC)
Two other soldiers were killed: The others were Maj. Jason George 38, of Tehachapi, Calif., and Sgt. Paul Brooks, 34, of Joplin, Mo., the release said.
