Tourism Demos at Virginia Welcome Center-May 13-14

Tourism demos were conducted at the Lambsburg, VA I-77 Welcome Center on May 13 and 14 by Patrick Countians as a part of National Tourism Week.

Tourism Demos May 13 & 14 at Lambsburg, VA Welcome Center Tourism demos were conducted on May 13 and May 14 at the Lambsburg, VA, I-77 Welcome Center by several organizations from Patrick County. This activity was a part of the National Tourism Week celebrated by Virginia Tourism Corporation at all the State Welcome Centers. Those representing Patrick County for this two-day event included: From the Meadows of Dan Community, Leslie Shelor of Greenberry House, Gary Wood of Mabry Mill, Susan Moore of the Dan River Book Store. From Ararat, Shirley Keene, Marvin Keene and Ronnie Haynes represented the Jeb Stuart Preservation Trust with pictures and flyers advertising the next Civil War Encampment. Charlotte Gardner from Stuart represented the artisan community and Bull Mountain Arts. Tom Bishop, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce represented all the attractions of Patrick County with a literature display covering 3 tables, with tourism brochures, pictures and maps. Various demonstrations were provided and included, the art of appliqué while working on a quilt square, hand spinning with a flyer wheel, and weaving on a triangle loom. Over 600 travelers visited our exhibits over the 2 day event. It was a great opportunity to introduce people to all the wonderful attractions and festivals we have in Patrick County. Virginia Tourism Corporation invites tourism attractions and businesses to schedule other demos to help promote the State of Virginia at our Interstate Welcome Centers.
