A State Corporation Commission (SCC) hearing on a matter that could lead to Embarq raising rates paid by local phone customers has been postponed
Embarq which operates the Henry County-Martinsville phone system is asking SCC not to force it to raise rates if long distance and wireless companies are able to start paying less to use the company's network.
Embarq says its customer should not be put in a position of paying more to help the company maintain and improve equipment and services, as well as make up for reduced costs charged to long distance and wireless companies "that will be of little or no benefit to" customers, document shows.
