Senator Roscoe Reynolds, D-Ridgeway, at the request of the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce urged VDOT to do all they can to keep welcome centers and rest areas open.
He reminded the Transportation Board how important the Dept. of Transportation is to rural Virginia. He urged the representatives to take this into account in deciding which residences should be consolidated and which area headquarters should be closed.
He pointed out that any consolidation of residence or closing willhave a significant adverse effect on less urban Virginia as these areas are heavily dependent upon the department
