Mar. 12-Mr. James A. Hutchens, Age 82, passed away on March 12 at his home in Spencer, VA. We at the Chamber of Commerce offer our condolences and prayers to this family.
This is the father of Vicki Hutchens-Bennett, Immediate Past President of the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce (2008).

James Aubrey Hutchens, age 82, of 1246 VA-NC Road, Spencer, VA, died Thursday, March 12, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Stokes County, NC, April 11, 1926 to the late William E. Hutchens and Nellie Mae Roark Hutchens. He was of the Primitive Baptist Faith, was a member of the VA-NC Ruritan Club for over 50 years, he also was a member of the Moorefield Store Fire Department for over 25 years. He worked at United Elastic in the Put-up Dept. and as a machinist for Laray Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Hamm, and 2 brothers, Estes and John Hutchens.
He is survived by his wife Lillian Amos Hutchens, of the home, one daughter, Vicki H. Bennett, of the Moorefield Store Community, one son, Doug (Bubba) Hutchens, of Moorefield Store Community, and 3 Grandchildren Cristen Hamm, Gage and Brikk Bennett and one great grandchild, Mason Bennett.
The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Community Funeral Home Chapel of Stuart with Paul Clark, Jessie Hutchens, Laray Smith and Rev. Edward Hartman officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 14, 2009, In the Chapel of Community Funeral Home of Stuart and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the Moorefield Store Vol. Fire Department 17 VA-NC Road Spencer, VA. 24165.
