The Dairy Queen Bluegrass jam session every Thursday morning from 9 AM To 10 AM. The band is the DQ Band and they play from September thru May. There is no charge, but come hungry because the Dairy Queen serves some wonderful biscuits and gravy.

State Line Grocery Jam Session: Come join in a jam session at State Line Grocery on the Virginia/North Carolina Border. Every Thursday night, local musicians gather to play bluegrass and mountain music. A piece of Patrick County's history is communicated through their ballads. Starts at 7 PM.

Lays Hardware Thursday Jam - Every Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Both musicians and spectators are welcome! Concessions are available. Admission free.

Pickin' Porch: The Pickin Porch at the Bristol Mall just off exit 1 of I-81 is a weekly showcase of local, regional and national performers. If you like bluegrass, old time, Celtic and Americana music you'll love the Pickin Porch concerts every Thursday evening! Admission is free but donations are requested thru the non-profit ACMA and proceeds go to benefit the Mountain Music Museum also located in the Bristol Mall which is open 7 days a week and tells the history of the music born in the southern Appalachians. Young musicians often perform on the Pickin Porch which serves as a venue to help them get a start in the music business. Many experienced regional and national acts also perform. Jams begin at 7:00 PM. The Pickin Porch is always fun and exciting and is a place to take your entire family!

Willis Gap Community Center Open Jam: Willis Gap Community Center holds an open jam session on every Friday night. The Center has been doing jam sessions successfully for over 5 years. Jammers of all skill levels are invited to attend. Mostly Bluegrass is played during the jam, the Center also loves Gospel, Country, and Oldies. Hotdogs, chips, snacks, and drinks are available for purchase. All proceeds of the Jam Session go to the Willis Gap Community Center. The WGCC is available to rent for family, community, and church functions. Come out and visit the Willis Gap Community Center for good friends, good food, and good fun. Starts at 7:00 PM

Blue Ridge Backroads at the Rex Theatre: Visit the Historic Rex Theater in Downtown Galax every Friday evening for a unique Live Radio Show featuring Bluegrass and Oldtime Bands performing on stage. Blue Ridge Backroads Live is presented by a group of area volunteers and has been taking place at The Rex Theater since 1999. It is broadcast live on WBRF 98.1FM. Call for more information.
