Jan. 12 - The new Verizon cell phone tower near Stuart, VA is now in service. It is visible near the PH Community College as you look toward Rucker Mountain.
The Chamber of Commerce has learned that this new tower has been in service since Dec. 30, 2008.
The location is just off U. S. Route 58 four lane highway, turn on Johnson Street and then turn on Mt. Calvary Church Road and at the end of the road. The site is approximately 1 mile straight up the mountain from Mt. Calvary Church Road.
The location is on what is commonly known as Rucker Mountain at about 2170 ft. elevation.
The tower is 199 foot high
