LET’S MEET AT THE MALT SHOPPE!
CRITZ, VA (January 6, 2009)—Grab your saddle oxfords and poodle skirt and head out to the Reynolds Homestead for the Patrick County Extension Office’s “Sock Hop at the Malt Shoppe� Fundraiser on Friday, February 6 at 6:00 p.m.
The evening will begin with dinner from a traditional malt shoppe menu. The Patrick County High School cast of “Grease� will make a special appearance, performing numbers from their very popular 2008 show. A live DJ will spin dance hits from the 50s and 60s, and for those who want to dress the part, there will be a costume contest with prizes.
Tickets for the event are $20 for adults and $10 for students. A babysitting service will also be available for $5 per child with art activities and movies to keep the youngsters entertained.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to support Extension services in Patrick County, including 4-H, Agriculture, and Food and Consumer Science programs. According to Unit Coordinator and 4H Extension Agent Carol Byrd, “It is our goal in Extension to provide programs such as 4-H Camp, Agriculture Day, Family Nutrition Programs, Summer Day Camps and much more to all audiences regardless of financial status. Come out and assist us in reaching this goal while enjoying a fun-filled evening full of great food and entertainment.�
