Primland announced today the death of its founder and owner. In a press release, Primland said "It is with deep regret that I have to announce the untimely death of 63 YEAR OLD Didier Primat, the owner and creator of Primland.
THE RELEASE WENT ON TO SAY "Many of you know him from his many visits over the more than 30 years that he has been involved, first as an investor and businessman selling kindling wood from an industry he started here in Meadows of Dan, then as the visionary of a golf, hunting and fishing resort that is still evolving."
COMPANY OFFICIALS SAID "Our deepest sympathies have been conveyed to his families and the friends with whom we are familiar."
Cause of death is not known at this time. Funeral arrangements are being made in Geneva , Switzerland.
COMPANY OFFICIALS SAID "Until we hear differently, we have been advised to continue business as usual. It is what he would have wanted."
ACCORDING TO FORBES.COM PRIMAT IS THE GRANDSON TO THE FOUNDER OF oilfield services company Schlumberger, the 88-year-old French software and technology firm that employs 58,000 people in 80 countries. Primat WAS ON THE BOARD OF directoRS OF THE COMPANY.
THE WEBSITE WENT ON TO STATE THAT Oil has been good to him; company stock has doubled in the past nine months to $120 on surging oil prices. In 2005 the company won multimillion dollar contracts from both Shell and Chevron. Also chief executive of Curaçao-registered Primwest Holding NV, through which Primat owns hotel properties in the U.S., France and Ireland.
His Primwest Holding NV owns hunting, fishing and gold resorts in Europe and in Virginia's Blue Ridge mountains, ACCORDING TO THE WEBSITE. HE IS LISTED AS ONE OF THE 10 RICHEST PEOPLE IN FRANCE AND IN THE TOP 400 RICHEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. FORBES LISTS HIS NET WORTH AT $2.9 BILLION DOLLARS.
