The Art Show Opening Reception and Awards will be held on Thursday, September 4, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. People's Choice voting will continue throughout the exhibition with the winner announced on Tuesday, November 4.
This year's judge is Meaghan Dee, a practicing graphic designer and artist who teaches full-time for the Visual Communication and Design department at Virginia Tech. Dee’s research focuses on generative methods of mark-making and the human interpretation of form. Additionally, she investigates the creation and analysis of glitch imagery. Dee received her Bachelors at University of Illinois, with a focus in Graphic Design, and a Masters of Fine Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University, with a focus in Visual Communication Design.
Who May Enter: The show is open to adult artists ages 18 and older or student artists in grades 8-12. All work must be your original work, completed within the past three years and not shown in a previous J.E.B. Stuart Art Show. Artists must reside in Patrick, Surry, Stokes, Henry, Franklin, Floyd, or Carroll county. Natives of Patrick County and members of Bull Mountain Arts living anywhere may enter. Two works of art may be shown. There is a non-refundable entry fee of $20.00 per artist for adults and $10.00 per artist for students. Please make checks payable to Treasurer of Virginia Tech.
