Presenting The Mary Jo & Charlie Show with Ron Pendleton & Tommy Morse and featuring Bernie Coveney

May 22, 2014

Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out, one of the most awarded bands in Bluegrass music history, are slated to headline the main stage at this year’s 4th Annual Chantilly Farm Bluegrass & BBQ Festival in Floyd, Virginia on Saturday, May 24 from 11am until 10pm. After forming in 1991, the band has become one of the world's top bluegrass groups with seven straight International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) awards for Vocal Group of the Year, and five more awards honoring Moore as IBMA's Male Vocalist of the Year.

Current reigning IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year Junior Sisk is slated to return to the festival again this year. Sisk’s career has been on a roll in recent years as his haunting vocals and stellar songwriting have earned him praise from countless traditional bluegrass fans all over the world. Sisk is the current reigning IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year and SPBGMA Contemporary Male Vocalist of the Year! Balsam Range burst onto the music scene in recent years and have multiple IBMA awards and nominations and seven #1 Bluegrass hits. With a creative blend of traditional Bluegrass, folk, gospel and jazz, Balsam Range has quickly become a fan favorite at Bluegrass festivals across the country. Also featured on the main stage for this fourth annual event will be Grammy nominated Bluegrass super-group, The Boxcars. Band members Adam Steffey and John Bowman, both former members of Alison Krauss and Union Station, have joined forces with Ron Stewart, Keith Garrett and Harold Nixon to form one of the most talented and experienced bands on the road. In fact, the band’s much anticipated third album will be released a few weeks prior to their Floyd performance. “Balsam Range and The Boxcars are two of the hottest and most widely lauded Bluegrass bands on the road today. We have an exciting surprise in store for festival attendees this year as we plan to have both these bands on stage at the same time for a very special set—now that will be intense,” said Gallimore. Fresh off the heels of a successful debut album, newcomers Jeff Brown and Still Lonesome will round out the headliners on the main stage. Brown has played with Bluegrass icons such as Larry Sparks, Ralph Stanley, Blue Highway and the Charlie Sizemore band. And now Brown has teamed up with Josh Underwood, Josh Blankenship, Meredith Goins, and Austin Brown to form a group that Bluegrass fans will likely talk about for years to come. Underwood and Blankenship are both Floyd County natives. Additional musical performances will feature The Blackberries, Gravel Road, Mary Jo and Charlie Show, Bernie Coveney, Tommy Morse, Ron Pendleton, The Back Porch Cloggers and more! Apart from all the great music, the festival will feature a variety of BBQ and food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, jamming areas, kite flying, children’s activities, face painting, antique tractors, hiking and biking trails, opportunities to jam, and more! Advance tickets are only $20 and can be purchased at www.chantillyfarm.com or by stopping by the Blue Ridge Restaurant or Wildwood Farm General Store in Floyd. Kids 12 and under are admitted for free with a paying adult, so pack up those lawn chairs and blankets and head out for a great day of music and family fun at the 4th Annual Chantilly Farm Bluegrass & BBQ Festival in Floyd!
