LADIES REIGN! The fourth concert in the 2014 Second Sunday American Music Series presented by The Reynolds Homestead

February 21, 2014
To be held at 2:30 PM on March 9th and will feature six notable women from our southern Virginia region. This concert is titled “Ladies Reign!” and will include nationally recognized bluegrass singer and bassist Jeanette Williams. Rounding out this exciting concert program are fiddler Montana Young, vocalist Marcie Horne, local performer Mary Jo Leet, Rachel Blankenship of the popular “After Jack” group and Courtney Clapp, acclaimed banjoist from North Carolina. The Second Sunday Series offers these women an opportunity to perform together as well as offer their unique talents to the program!

In addition to these fine women players and singers this concert includes “The World’s Best House Band”: Ron Pendleton, Tommy Morse, Tony Cockram, Johnny Williams and Phillip Clapp. This promises to be the best concert of the year to date! These Second Sunday Series afternoon concerts explore the roots of traditional music – old-time, bluegrass, blues, jazz and gospel music – with artists from the wealth of talent in Patrick County as well as musicians from this region of Virginia and North Carolina. The Second Sunday Series addresses three educational components of the mission of The Reynolds Homestead: the historical aspects of our music in SW Virginia; the importance of current performances of banjo, bluegrass, old-time and gospel music; and also the future of these traditions in young musicians and contemporary groups. These traditions have created a wealth of material that is shared world-wide through its influence on contemporary music! Tickets for individual events will be sold at the door for $12 for adults and $6 for students or can be purchased at The Reynolds Homestead, 463 Homestead Dr., Critz, VA, 24082 and at The Patrick County Chamber of Commerce. Refreshments will be served….and dancing is encouraged! Call The Reynolds Homestead for additional information: 276-694-7181
