PATRICK COUNTY'S VERY OWN SAMMY SHELOR RETURNS TO THE STAGE

From the lights of New York City and from the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, Sammy Shelor is coming home. Shelor, the 2014 SPBGMA Banjo Performer of the Year, together with the legendary Lonesome River Band will be performing on stage Sunday, March 30 at Rotary Field in Stuart.

To help welcome them to the hometown stage will be the ever popular After Jack. With a mix of bluegrass, gospel, country and fun this group of ladies will entertain you with expressive lyrics and captivating vocals. Lonesome River Band just celebrated their 30th Anniversary as they continue their reputation as one of the most respected names in bluegrass music. Virginia CountryMusic Hall of Famer and multi-award winning banjo picker, Sammy Shelor (banjo and harmony vocals) has put together a wealth of talent that includes: Brandon Rickman (lead & harmony vocals and guitar); Mike Hartgrove (fiddle); Barry Reed (bass, harmony vocals); and Randy Jones (lead & harmony vocals, mandolin) all performing the distinctive LRB sound fans love. After Jack began when Patrick County’s own Rachel Blankenship-Tucker along with EmilyBlankenship-Tucker and Mary Allison met while working together in a theatre company. Their sound provides a unique take on traditional mountain music that gives everyone a hand-clappin’ good time. More family fun heads to the stage when the Old Dominion Cloggers join together in traditional free-style foot work and square dance routines. Based in Stuart, this energetic group has appeared throughout the United States and abroad showcasing their talents to thousands. Nothing beats their enthusiasm; their frilly outfits and the music of old time traditional sounds. The Stuart Rotary Club is proud to host this benefit concert sponsored by Clark Gas and Oil for Caring Hearts Free Clinic of Patrick County. Caring Hearts Free Clinic has been serving the medically uninsured of our local communities since 2004. Over 800 patients are seen through over 3000 appointments made with the clinic each year. Much of the funding is dependent on businesses, community partners and individual contributions. Concessions round out the afternoon with the best from Bootleg BBQ and Stanburn Winery. Tickets are a $20.00 donation per person and will be available until the space is sold out. Ticket sale locations include On the Run in Stuart and in Hillsville; the Circle K in Floyd; the E-Z-Stop in Hillsville and at Clark Gas & Oil Offices in Stuart, Floyd and Hillsville.
