Women's Heart Health Dinner & Program at The Reynolds Homestead

February 2, 2014
According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the number one killer of women and is more deadly than all forms of cancer combined. The Friends of Reynolds Homestead, in observance of Heart Month, is helping lead the charge to end this deadly foe with a “Go Red for Women’s Heart Health” dinner and program on Tuesday, February 25 at the Reynolds Homestead.

“We are all familiar with the symptoms of heart disease associated with men—chest pain, numbness in the arm,” says Dr. Darnell Cockram, “but women often have very different, even unnoticeable signs that they are in trouble.” The program will feature two speakers on the subject of women’s health and nutrition as they relate to preventing heart disease. Nancy Dietz, a retired dietician, will discuss the National Institute of Health’s DASH diet and the importance of a healthy heart diet.
