Update on Mabry Mill per National Park Service for 2026

Normally occurs every year in January, February, March, April, September, October, November, December

The mill has undergone renovations, including repairs for a new roof, and has reopened after months of work. The project involved rebuilding the flume, working on the wheel, and creating hand-riven shakes for the roof, which took a significant amount of time and labor. The mill's historical accuracy is key, and the project manager found a man in Tennessee to create the specific shakes used on the roof when the mill was first built. The mill's future operations are evolving, with the National Park Service initiating the process to attract a new concessioner and potentially a new operating model for this site. Despite the challenges, the Mabry Mill remains a popular stop along the Blue Ridge Parkway, drawing over 100,000 visitors a year. The mill's success is crucial for local communities that depend on it, and the park service is working to ensure its historical accuracy and maintain its appeal to visitors. Historic Mabry Mill reopens to the public following months of renovations.
