Floyd Fest, a music festival held July 24-27, features many bands, a family atmosphere, music workshops, and family reunions.
The upcoming edition of the festival is titled "Family Affair" to emphasize that feeling of "family" that visitors go home with each year. The festival will be held July 24-27 just off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Patrick County.
In addition to its Dreaming Creek main stage and the Streamline Hill Holler stage, Floyd Fest offers a variety of activities and performances throughout the festival grounds. The Global Village Stage, the "Children's Universe," the Blue Ridge to Bayou Dance Tent, and the ever popular Workshop Porch are all returning attractions for 2008.
Across The Way Productions brings out a yearly list of international, national, regional and local musical artists that satisfy listeners in a vast array of genres. Bands already signed to appear this year include The David Grisman Quintet, The Avett Brothers, Blueground Undergrass, Donna the Buffalo, New Monsoon, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Tony Trischka and Double Banjo Bluegrass, Laura Reed and Deep Pocket, The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, DJ Williams Projekt, Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Jamie Mclean, Gokh-Bi System, and Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band.
This year's edition of the festival will also include the latest innovation by Across The Way Productions with the creation of the Emerging Artists Series at Floyd Fest. These bands are the "up and comers" that are the future of the music scene and will be showcased throughout Floyd Fest 7.
