Filming of story of The Man Who Moved A Mountain imminent
December 6, 2007
The Man Who Moved a Mountain book classic is quickly manifesting into the feature film Mountain by Jenkins Entertainment (www.jenkins-entertainment.com).
We spoke to you a few months ago at a VPA meeting on Broad Street regarding the economic importance of securing the film's production onto Virginia soil. You may recall that the film is an integral part of a larger economic development project known as the Buffalo Mountain Resort Project. There is also its PBS counterpart entitled Moving a Mountain that is being produced by co-author/executive producer Jack DuVall (A Force More Powerful) and producer George Colburn (The Eisenhower Legacy).
I am informed as of December 6, 2007, via a Jenkins Entertainment e-mail that financial backing of the film has materialized to the point of an out-of-Virginia production, possibly Georgia or the Carolinas. I am further informed by Jenkins Entertainment that for approximately $500,000-$600,000, which is an amount equal to a percentage of the rebate money these states offer, we can secure this film onto Virginia soil with little or no rebuttal from the financiers, AND FUND THE DOCUMENTARY's editing for PBS to help insure a hit at the box office.
TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE
Please at your earliest convenience help me secure the proper channels and meetings necessary (Governor Tim Kaine, perhaps Secretary of Commerce and Trade Patrick Gottschalk) to evaluate the extended positive financial impact this film will have in conjunction with the economic engine identified by our company's market research. We are prepared formally to present the Buffalo Mountain Resort Project and its components in booklet format. It is my earnest hope that through a means of public or private investment we may be able to assemble the necessary incentives to readily meet this challenge to Virginia's tourism industry.
Sincerely,
BUFFALO MOUNTAIN RESORT PROJECT
