Hill Top Cafe of Vesta experience a fire on Oct. 28, 2007. It happened on the same day as Pancake Days at the Community Building in Meadows of Dan, VA

Source: The Enterprise, Oct. 31, 2007 Fire caused heavy damage to the Hilltop Cafe in Vesta Sunday afternoon. Response was quick because some members of the Meadows of Dan Volunteer Fire Department were working at Pancake Days just a few miles away. Stuart and Laurel Fork fire departments also assisted, making a total of 38 firefighters on the scene for about three hours. The cause was probably electrical, fire officials said.
