The 2007 General Assembly races in this area were decided Tuesday without major surprises or upsets.
Incumbent state Sen. Roscoe Reynolds, D-Ridgeway, easily outpaced Republican Jeff Evans in the 20th Senate District, with 30,321 votes to Evans’ 17,901 as of 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
In Henry County, Reynolds ran away with the race, with 10,136 votes to Evans’ 5,721. In Martinsville Reynolds also took a commanding lead, with 1,994 to Evans’ 697.
Evans, a Carroll County supervisor, also lost big in his home county. Reynolds won in Carroll with more than 69 percent of the vote, or 4,976 votes. Evans received 2,221 votes.
