PRESS RELEASE
The partnership has developed a curriculum for High School students to earn a high school diploma and a
college degree at the same time. Using the dual enrollment classes currently offered at the high school, the
group developed an expanded course offering program to assist students in earning an Associate of Science
Degree in General Studies from the Community College.
Dr. Roger N. Morris, Division Superintendent explained that the program "provides a unique opportunity
for students to earn an associates degree and could transfer this degree to a four-year college, saving
parents a significant amount of money." Data from the schools indicates that parents could save almost
$30,000 over two years. Dr. Morris further stated that scholarships and other opportunities are being
explored to assist students who are in the program and complete the program.
High School students will be given the opportunity to enroll in the program starting with the 2008-2009
school year and orientation and information sessions will be scheduled for parents and students in the near
future.
