Mrs. Essie A. Bishop of 1352 Old Orhard Loop, Stuart, VA 24171, passed away on Saturday October 13, 2007. Mrs. Bishop is the mother of Tom Bishop, Executive Director of the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce.

Essie J. Anderson Bishop, 90, of 1352 Old Orchard Loop Road, Stuart, VA 24171, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at R.J. Reynolds Patrick Memorial Hospital in Stuart.
She was born in Brim, VA, on Sept. 27, 1917, to Joe Brim Anderson and Amanda McMillian Anderson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Barzy Bishop; and four brothers, Austin Anderson, Raleigh Anderson, James Anderson and Joe Bill Anderson.
She was a graduate of Red Bank High School. She was a member of Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church in Claudville and the Red Bank Ruritan Club. She was a former member of the Patrick Henry Saddle Club.
Surviving are three sons, Herman R. Bishop of Albuquerque, N.M., Vernon A. Bishop of Lake Toxaway, N.C. and Thomas F. Bishop of Stuart; three sisters, her twin, Ossie Caldwell of Indianapolis, Ind., Dorothy Setzer of Norfolk and Pauline “Polly� Scales of Ararat; one brother, Roy Anderson of Westfield, N.C.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church in Claudville. The Rev. Tommy Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. today at Howell Funeral Home in Stuart and other times at the home.
