Patrick Henry Community College Registration begins Aug. 7

Registration for Patrick Henry Community College fall semester classes will be held at the Patrick County Site in Stuart on Tuesday, August 7 from 4- 6 p.m.

Students may register for courses offered at the Patrick County Site or those offered on-campus in Martinsville. New students interested in signing up for classes are encouraged to apply for admission and financial aid, take the COMPASS placement test, and visit with an advisor prior to registration. Classes begin August 22. Classes to be offered at the Patrick County Site this fall include Biology, Preparing for College Writing, Reading Improvement, College Composition, Survey of World Literature, US History, Introduction to Computer Applications, Basic Mathematics, Basic Algebra, Pre-Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Principles of Sociology, Introduction to Speech Communication, and College Survival Skills. Students at the Patrick County Site can earn an Associate in Arts and Science in General Studies without ever coming to the college’s main campus in Martinsville. Courses offered on the main PHCC campus include accounting; agriculture (horse management); administration of justice; air conditioning and refrigeration; American Sign Language; architecture; arts; administrative support technology; auto body; and automotive. Students may sign up for biology; business administration; childhood development; chemistry; computer science; cosmetology; and crafts. Also scheduled for this fall are courses in drafting; economics; education; engineering; electrical technology; emergency medical services; English; equine management; electronics technology; geography; geology; health care technician; health sciences; history; horticulture; hotel-restaurant-institutional management; industrial technology; information technology (database, essentials, networking, programming); interior design; legal administration; library science; marketing; mathematics; motorsports; and music. Other courses include nursing; philosophy; phlebotomy; physical education and recreation; philosophy; physics; political science; practical nursing; psychology; real estate; religion; sociology; Spanish; speech and drama; student development; telecommunications; viticulture; and welding. A wide selection of classes is offered online, and can be taken any time of day or night, from anywhere with an internet connection. Tuition and fees for fall semester are $81.48 per credit hour for in-state students and $255.83 for out-of-state students. Financial assistance is available for students who qualify; all students are encouraged to investigate their eligibility. Gift certificates for credit and non-credit classes are also available.
