The Council of the town of Stuart public hearing sceduled for Wednesday, June 27th, 2007 has been posponed.
The Date of the hearing will be announced at a later date.
The purpose of the public hearing will be to receive comment from members of the public relating to a proposal to amend the Business Profession and Occupation License (BPOL) Tax Ordinance. The proposed amendment would amend the current tax rates as follows:
CONTRACTORS and persons contracting for own account:
CURRENT: .08 per $100.00
PROPOSED: .05 per $100.00
RETAIL SALES:
CURRENT: .10 per $100.00
PROPOSED: NO CHANGE
Finance, Real Estate and Professional Services:
CURRENT: .29 PER $100.00
PROPOSED: .25 per $100.00
Repair, personal services and all other classes not specifically listed:
CURRENT: .18 per $100.00
PROPOSED: .15 PER $100.00
Wholesale Businesses:
CURRENT: .05 PER $100.00
PROPOSED: NO CHANGE
Current Minimum tax : $50.00
PROPOSED: NO CHANGE
Current Maximum (cap): $2500.00
Proposed: NO MAXIMUM/CAP
Members of the public may appear and present their views at said public hearing.
The Mayor may limit the time allotted to each speaker.
