Patrick County, VA has suffered severe wind damage due to wind gusts up to 65-70 miles per hour on Monday and Tuesday.
Yesterday, 6500 customers were without electricity.
The Southwestern part of Virginia has up to 23,000 customers without power.
Appalachian Power reports today the situation has improved, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Crews from surrounding states, of West Virginia, Pennsylvania and other states have been in Patrick County helping out.
