Many were out of power on the morning of Feb. 15, due to the heavy ice storm which hit the tops of the mountains in Patrick and Floyd Counties.
This picture shows the Pike Electric crew working to restore power at the intersection of Willis Road and Jeb Stuart Highway at Meadows of Dan, next door to the BB&T Bank.
Many trees had broken limbs. The broken tree tops were very visable on the South side of Lover's Leap Mountain.
Travel on the Blue Ridge Parkway was treacherous due to the limbs on the highway. Traveling from the Slate Mountain Presbyterian church to the Meadows of Dan exit was like an obstacle course.
