Peggy Rakes of Woolwine, VA, has started a new business called, Silks, Ribbons and Roses in the first floor of her home. The business has been opened less than two months.
She earned an associate degree from Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) in December.
With the encouragement of several professors at PHCC, the Woolwine native recently decided to make her dream of establishing a floral business a reality.
Ms. Rakes was laid off two years ago from her job as a threader at Sara Lee Intimate Apparel in Woolwine. She has worked in the textile industry for 21 years.
