SB 857 for Bond Issue for U. S. Rt. 58 taken up by Senate Finance Com
January 29, 2007
Senate Bill 857 to issue additional bonds not to exceed $196 million to fund certain Transportation projects in Rt. 58 Corridor will be taken into consideration by the Senate Finance Committee on January 30
Sen. Roscoe Reynolds offered this bill to fund the following projects:
Hillsville By-Pass $73 million
Tri-County section west of completed Meadows of Dan, $26 million
Abingdon to Damascus Section 2 continuing West, $17 million
Penington Gap Bypass, $80 million
Total $196 million.
Letter received on January 25 from Senator Reynolds says,
"By this letter I am confirming that the only improvements contained in the bill are those parts of Route 58 for which construction is ready to begin but for which there is no money available now or in the forseeable future."
Expectation is that the Senate Finance will either vote this bill "Up" or "Down" on January 30. Senator Reynolds will be there to make a presentation on this bill.
