Wellness Cooking Classes at Primland with New Executive Chef, Gunnar Thompson

Primland’s new executive chef, Gunnar Thompson, is passionate about utilizing fresh, local ingredients to create dishes with a sense of place. Explore new healthful cooking techniques with Chef Thompson and learn how you can infuse your home cooked meals with seasonal specialties. May • Local Honey Nature’s best sweetener is good for you too! Honey’s healing properties work to combat allergies, contribute to heart health and protect from certain cancers. Chef Thompson will demonstrate how to prepare a healthful multi-course meal centered on the natural flavors of local honey. June • Fresh Cherries A true super food in all aspects of the word, the ‘Queen’ of fruits is also a natural way to improve blood flow and reduce inflammation in the body. During this class, we will prepare sweet and savory dishes with the choicest cherries from local Virginia orchards. July • Tomatoes Available in a rainbow of colors, tomatoes can brighten any dish. Learn about the many varieties and flavors of this beautiful fruit, which is also packed with lycopene, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. In this class, Chef Thompson will prepare healthful recipe selections using this versatile fruit. Cooking Courses are $80.00 per person and include lessons and tastings of all dishes.
