Delegate Charles Poindexter named Champion of Free Enterprise by Virginia Chamber of Commerce
April 2, 2013
Delegate Charles D. Poindexter (R-Franklin) last week was named "Champion of Free Enterprise" by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce for his work during the 2013 General Assembly Session.
"I'm honored to receive this distinction from the Virginia Chamber and I appreciate their continued support of pro-business, free-market principles," said Poindexter. "We have worked hard to keep taxes low, reduce regulations and red tape, and promote Virginia as open for business. I look forward to continuing my work in alliance with the business community to bring jobs and economic development to Virginia."
This year, Delegate Charles Poindexter sponsored HB1953, legislation that will increase the bond authorization amount for the Route 58 Corridor Development Program and prioritize the Lover's Leap section for completion. This legislation will provide a continuous four-lane highway from I-77 to the Port of Virginia, ensuring the effective movement of goods and services across Southern Virginia. Poindexter also worked closely with the Attorney General's office and leaders from the business and environmental community on HB2261, the comprehensive publicly-owned electric utility rate structure reform bill that will help lower rising electricity costs across the Commonwealth and eliminate unnecessary expenses passed on to businesses and consumers.
