According to today's Martinsville Bulletin, Patrick County, VA population has grown 1.8% and in 2006 stands at 19,517, up from 19,407 in 2000.
The increase was due to people moving into the County rather than births. Although 233 more people died than were born in Patrick during the study period, 343 people moved into the county, figures show.
These population estimates are released by the University of Virginia's Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service.
Henry County population was 54,506 in 2006 or 3,424 fewer people than 2000's figure of 57,930.
Martinsville's populaton of 14,320 was down 1,096 since 2000, when the population stood at 15,416.
