Charlotte Frances Bowers, 57, of Patrick Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a release from the Virginia State Police. The crash occurred around 9:20 a.m. Friday when a 1997 Ford Taurus was traveling eastbound on Virginia 677, just east of Virginia 901, the release stated. The Ford ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree, according to the release. Bowers was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, the release added. Troopers are continuing the investigation of the crash, and no additional details about the incident are available, according to the release.
