Blue Ridge Airport Has $6.5 Million Economic Impact

Jan. 13-Fifty nine area jobs are supported through the Blue Ridge Airport in Spencer, VA.

The Payroll is $1.31 million and the airport economic activity is $5.2 million per year, as reported by Jason Davis, managing director of Blue Ridge Regional Airport.
These jobs represent both full-time and part-time jobs.
Currently 55 aircraft are based at the airport. An average of 33 aircraft take off and land at the airport per day.
During the fiscal year 2011-2012 the airport acquired 77 acres of land that surrounds the airport.
During 2011-2012 the design work began to address obstruction removal and on-airport storm water. This project will remove trees that penetrate the airports critical airspace surfaces.
Also the airport plans to realign ¾ of mile of Route 680, known as Airport Drive. They will also expand the aircraft parking apron.
