Program for Infants, Toddlers and Expectant Mothers
Being a parent is one of the most challenging – and rewarding – jobs you will ever face. Whether you are expecting, have a newborn infant, or your house is filled with the happy sounds of toddlers, getting the support you need may prove difficult. Not anymore, help is right here in Patrick County, at Early Head Start!
Early Head Start gives you the encouragement, support and tools you need to guide and grow your family. After all, you are the most important teacher in your young child’s life. Two options are offered; Home-Based and Center-Based.
Home-Based
Families receive a weekly home visit from a specially trained Family Educator who brings activities and materials to promote your child’s development, health, and education. Enrolled families that are expecting receive up -to-date information on fetal development and are inspired to embrace a healthy lifestyle. All families enjoy socialization activities or play groups twice a month.
Center-Based
Two teachers provide attentive, consistent and individualized care in a classroom environment with peers of the same age and growth development. Early Head Start classrooms are limited to 8 children and we serve children from ages 6-weeks to 3 years old. Our program is a wonderful option for parents who are working or attending school.
Head Start Prepares Your Child for a Lifetime of Learning
Head Start offers high-quality early childhood education for young learners preparing for Kindergarten. The focus is on individual lesson plans delivered in a classroom setting. Through intentional play opportunities, and specific lesson planning, school readiness goals are implemented throughout the day.
