Nov. 14-Mr. Otis Jessup, age 88, of Ararat, VA was honored at Blue Ridge Elementary for his World War II service. He is a holder of the Purple Heart.

Mrs. Yvonne Jessup’s 6th grade History class was honored to have Mr. Otis Jessup speak to them on Wednesday, November 14. In honor of Veteran’s Day and learning about World War II, Mr. Jessup, 88, kindly agreed to talk to the children about his experiences in the war. He was a marine in World War II and fought at Peleliu against the Japanese. He told them about how he was drafted, some of his war experiences during the 4 years and 4 months that he served, his injuries and being awarded The Purple Heart. Mr. Jessup resides in Claudville.
