Oct. 30-DOBSON, N.C. — A Mount Airy man died Monday night after winds blew over a large tree in front of the truck he was driving, Surry County emergency officials said.

Source: WXII Channel 12 Jody Alan Davis, 25, collided with the oak tree around 6:50 p.m. near 1451 Prison Camp Road, said John Shelton, director of Surry County Emergency Services. Davis died of his injuries. Davis was driving a small Ford pickup truck and had no time to react when the tree came down, Shelton said. Traffic was routed along Old County Home Road not only due to the crash but also due to downed power lines.
