August 20, 2012
Aug. 20-Stuart-US Congressman Morgan Griffith, represents the 9th District, met with several Stuart businessmen as part of his listening tour of Southwest, VA.

He is Pictured here with Tom Bishop, Executive Director, Patrick County Chamber of Commerce. He went to Slate's restaurant for lunch, stopped by W & W Produce and met with Daryl Worley and made a visit to the office complex of EMI on Commerce Street. While at W & W Produce he chatted with our Town of Stuart Mayor, Jimmy McHone. He was at our Peach Festival on Friday and said he enjoyed our good peaches and music. He also had plenty opportunity to meet with our community in small group settings. He had discussed with the cattlemen the problem with combined effect of bad weather impacting corn crops and the fact that 40% of American corn is used for Ethanol. This will not doubt cause the food products to be high price in our country. This is also a big concern to Social Services because those relying on government support will face higher prices with meats and grain producta. He also discussed the Migrant worker issue and our Immigration policy with local people.
